Support Program
Spring
Lake Ranch offers a comprehensive treatment program designed to enable
people to move from a hospital setting or period of crisis to an independent
life. It includes a residential farm community, where residents generally
spend several months, and an Aftercare program
in Rutland, Vermont, with a transitional living house, independent apartments,
and an individualized support system.
Central to our philosophy is to involve the individual in his or her treatment goals and process. Each resident participates in a team that includes the resident, their house advisor, and a senior advisor who work together to challenge and support the resident in achieving the identified goals. The team is assisted in this process by the Resident Coordinators, the nurse, and the consulting psychiatrist.
In addition to the team, a resident is aided in healing and recovery by the structure of the daily program. The benefits of work, pharmacological support, community participation, recreation, and peer support are all part of daily life at the Ranch. Psychotherapy is offered locally, as are AA and NA groups. In our integrated approach to treatment, substance abuse and psychiatric illness are addressed with equal importance.
As health and stamina increase, residents are offered opportunities for greater responsibility and independence through crew leadership, paid chores, volunteer work, college courses and other options that allow them to regain confidence and direction.
