Work Program Team Crew Leaders

LisaLisa Gardner – Department Head, Gardens Crew
BA, History; Haverford College
Lisa has worked at Spring Lake Ranch for more than 15 years, beginning as a House Advisor and eventually becoming the Department Crew for the Gardens Crew, overseeing the upkeep of the Ranch’s gardens, production of pesto and granola to sell at a nearby Farmers’ Market, and much more. Her previous experience includes working in schools, non-profits, on farms, with kids, traveling, and making art. She is a music player, a hat knitter, mountain hiker, and dog co-habiter.

CarlCarl Mancivalano – Department Head, Farm Crew
Carl joined Spring Lake Ranch in 2015 and oversees all aspects of its farming, including daily care of the animals, haying, grooming, and much more. Carl has years of experience working in both St. Thomas (Virgin Islands) and at a family farm in Southern Vermont, just to name a few! Carl enjoys educating residents and staff alike about the animals that call the Ranch home, including sheep, goats, cattle, pigs, chickens, turkeys, and llamas. Carl resides at the Ranch and enjoys spending time with his children. 

 

DougDoug Patton – Department Head, Woods Crew
MA, Counseling/Art Therapy
BA, Psychology
Doug has been at Spring Lake Ranch for more than 18 years, overseeing the Ranch’s Woods Crew and also serving as a Resident Advocate. His previous experience includes volunteering in the Peace Corps., being a professional student for a while, and 101 odd jobs throughout the years. Doug is a father and artist. He loves to play outside and is a big fan of ice cream and traveling.

 

Ray Pratt – Department Head, Shop Crew
Forestry, Plant and Soil Science
Ray joined the Spring Lake Ranch team in 2016 and is responsible for overseeing the Ranch’s Shop Crew. Ray also serves as a Resident Advocate. He was previously a self-employed Carpenter and Farm Manager for a youth employment training program. He resides in Tinmouth with his wife. He takes pride in being a father of three and grandfather of four!
